Smoke and Mirrors
You are invited to a ZOOM CONVERSATION about the craft of writing this Saturday!
Dear Subscribers,
You are invited to the first Zoom conversation about the craft of creative writing. If you prefer just to listen, that’s fine. No homework assignments! You’re also invited to come with questions about any stack post you’ve read here and any current challenges you may be finding in your own writing. All genres welcome!
The aim is to build a sense of connection and community among ourselves, see each other’s faces, and discover what fun we can create interactively.
This gathering comes on the heels of a conversation I had yesterday with
, the co-founder of Substack, about ways to publish literary texts on social media and generate more pleasure and surprise for readers—apart from the standard waves of cat pics (no offense), spit balls, and humble bragging. (I’m guilty of all of these, except my bragging isn’t humble.) The idea is to create an environment where people give each other more stimulation and beauty than ask things of each other—such as feel my feelings, hate my enemies, love my sense of virtue, etc.THE DETAILS:
DATE: SATURDAY JUNE 17, 3-4pm EST.
The gathering is for PAID SUBSCRIBERS ONLY.
It’s part of the way I want to thank you for supporting the publication and give you extra benefits. You can upgrade to a paid subscription at any time before the gathering. I’m offering a discount of 25% off annual and monthly paid subscriptions, so right now a monthly subscription costs $3.75 (and will entitle you to the gathering) and an annual subscription is $37.50.
PLEASE RSVP to: lauriestone@substack.com, and I will send you the Zoom link. Those of you who have already asked to be on the list are fine. Please let anyone know about this you think would like to attend.
You are the smartest, warmest readers imaginable.
xxLaurie
HI I've just subscribed and looking forward to going through the archives - just wondering was this zoom get together recorded?
Really enjoyed your conversation with Hamish and excited to have stumbled upon this! Looking forward to it.
