I prefer you in the fuzzy hat, compared to me in the fuzzy. This post perfectly captures your expression with the hat on.

So far, you have more votes in the fuzzy hat. I wore it yesterday on Warren Street because it is soooo coldddd. xxL

And agree re abortion. I've never had one, but went with friends. I waited a long time to have a child, my career and life made possible by effective birth control.

I love the hat on each of you, but especially, most especially on Laurie.

ha, just as i was thinking, hey what about masturbation?—that's your next line. your thesis about self-sensation reminds me of something a friend told me many years ago. he and his guy friends had a trick they called "the stranger," whereupon they'd sit on one hand until it grew numb and then use it to jerk off; the obvious implication being that said act was more pleasurable when (seemingly) administered by another. humans are so resourceful, lol. anyway, you do look great in that furry hat. so does richard. i loved how you brought the airport flash mob to life. also i watched the david cale recording and was blown away by his performance and the whole discussion. just wow.

So happy you like the David Cale Zoom. I think David Daniel will be a revelation as well. We are crazy fortunate to have these people generously giving our readers their attention and time. Your story about the numb hand reminded me--because it goes the other way--of a bit from an early solo show of John Leguizamo's. He's a kid, and he's just beginning to be sexual with girls, and his penis cries out, "Please, Johnny, you do it, you know how I like it."

I’m with you all the way on self-care. I don’t think I’ve considered self-loathing other to think what’s the point. I’d like there to be at least one person on my side even if it’s me.

I did get pregnant when I was seventeen. I completely and passionately support abortion but didn’t want one. I’m pretty sure having two kids by the time I was twenty didn’t ruin my life. Other people might think so but that’s their affair. I did want to go to Paris and write in a garret and that idea was thoroughly banjaxed but I might have sabotaged that plan anyway. Here I am, about to turn 74, happy as Larry.

That is a seriously gorgeous hat! You look great in it.

Pregnancy would have been the end of my life and clearly wasn't the end of yours. I didn't want a child.

This was timely. I was just writing about self-love. Can we love ourselves?

See above, the note on masturbation. Do we need to love ourselves? I would not say this is an emotion I can claim to feel. Self-preservation, I'm definitely into that. What about you? Do you have a sentence or two for a comment?

I think self-love is the emotion we feel as a result of accepting the fulfillment we have earned. Do we need it? Yes, if we want to feel we are enough and give more of that enoughness.
